MALTA INDIVIDUAL INVESTOR PROGRAMME (IIP)
Malta is situated in the middle of the beautiful Mediterranean, with more than 300 days of sunshine. Malta is a popular tourist destination with numerous recreational areas, and architectural and historical monuments, including three UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

MAIN CONDITIONS
In November 2013 the Maltese Citizenship Act was amended to offer full citizenship to affluent applicants of impeccable reputation on the basis of contribution and investment in Malta. The following qualifications are required for the application:
- - Passing the “Fit and Proper” test
- - Contribution to the National Development & Social Fund
- - Ownership or rental of residential property
- - Investment of €150,000
- - Comprehensive health insurance
- - Legal residency for one year prior to granting the citizenship.
CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT & SOCIAL FUND
The main applicant is required to contribute €650,000 to Malta. Spouses and children are required to contribute €25,000; unmarried children between 18 and 25 and dependent parents must contribute €50,000 each.
OWNERSHIP OR RENTAL OF PROPERTY
The main applicant is required to purchase a residential property with a minimum value of €350,000 or lease a residential property with a minimum €16,000 annual rent.
INVESTMENT OF €150,000
Applicants are required to invest at least €150,000 in Maltese government bonds or government bond funds for 5 years.
INSURANCE
A comprehensive global health insurance policy is required with a medical expense cover amounting to €50,000 for each family member.
LGBT rights
Legislation allowing same-sex marriage was approved by the Maltese parliament in July 2017.
